Making Stones
Stones don’t have to be perfect.
Handmade, simple, a little uneven — all welcome.
Meaning matters more than polish.
Use what you have.
Keep it kind.
Keep it safe for all ages.
If it was made with care, it belongs here.
Stone Rules
No Profanity
Stones may be found by children of all ages.
Because of that:

No profanity

No implied profanity (masked words, symbols standing in for letters, etc.)

No adult themes or language
If you wouldn’t be comfortable explaining the message to a child, it doesn’t belong on a stone.
Stones that include profanity will not be approved for tracking.
Quote Credit Rule
If a quote is not your own, it must be credited.

Include the author or source when known

If it’s your own words, list the credit as “Original”

Unknown or misattributed quotes will not be approved for tracking
This protects creators, keeps things honest, and respects the words we’re sharing.
No credit = no approval.
Graphic imagery
Stones may be seen by children, teens, and vulnerable individuals.
Because of that:

No graphic imagery

No depictions of self-harm, violence, blood, weapons, or injury

No disturbing, shocking, or triggering visuals
-
No imagery meant to provoke fear or distress
If the image would require a content warning, it doesn’t belong on a stone.
Stones with graphic or disturbing imagery will not be approved for tracking.

Placement Rules

No damaging nature, structures, or landmarks

Place stones where they can be found naturally — don’t force interaction

Get permission when required
We’re spreading kindness, not creating problems.
No Advertising or Self-Promotion

This project is not a marketing platform.

No advertising of any kind

No business names, logos, or slogans

No QR codes or links to shops, websites, or services

No social media handles used for promotion or sales

No self-promo disguised as “inspiration”

Stones with advertising or promotional content will not be approved for tracking.
Mental Health,Privacy Rule

No messages that pressure someone to stay alive (“don’t do it,” “your family would be devastated,” etc.)

No guilt-based or shaming language

No “fix-it” messaging

No full names, phone numbers, emails, or personal identifiers

No referencing specific individuals without consent

No “this is for ___” unless permission is clearly granted
Admin Discretion Rule

If a stone is damaged, offensive, or no longer appropriate, it may be removed

Removal does not require notice or explanation

Safety and respect come first

Final approval is at admin discretion
